Spears Reprises Guest Role On CBS’ ‘Mother’
Britney Spears, who proved she’s worth a cool million viewers to “How I Met Your Mother,” is paying another visit to the CBS sitcom. Spears will reprise her role as bubbly secretary Abby in the May 12 episode, CBS said Monday.”We’re all so thrilled to have Britney joining us once again,” series executive producer and co-creator Craig Thomas said in a statement.
“And just to head it off at the pass this time around: Yes, Mom, Britney’s very nice and no, I can’t get her autograph for you,” Thomas added, jokingly.
Spears’ appearance in the March 24 episode won her good reviews and boosted the show’s viewership to 10.6 million viewers, in comparison to the 9.6 million who had tuned in the previous week.
When last seen, Abby was flirting with womanizer Barney (cast member Neil Patrick Harris). The new episode, which began production Monday, has Abby and Barney sharing their mutual dislike of Ted (cast member Josh Radnor) and acting on it.
“Desperate to get a rise out of his former pal, Barney pops a surprising question to Abby,” CBS said in a release.
“How I Met Your Mother” stars Harris, Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel (”Forgetting Sarah Marshall”) as an urban family of 20-something New Yorkers.
The pop star’s camp originally approached the show about taking part, executive producer Carter Bays told The Associated Press earlier this month.

Annie Leibovitz Calls Topless Miley Cyrus Pic “Very Beautiful”
Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz is speaking out about her controversial, semi-topless Miley Cyrus photos she shot for Vanity Fair.
“I’m sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted,” she said in a statement. “Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together, and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it.
“The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.”
The 15-year-old issued a statement saying she was “embarrassed” over the photos and apologized to her fans. (The New York Post ran the photo under the headline Miley’s Shame.)
The Disney Channel claims the magazine “manipulated” her, but a Vanity Fair rep says, “Miley’s parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley.”
Michele Combs, a spokesperson for the Christian Coalition of America, tells Us that Disney should reprimand the Hannah Montana singer for the photo.
Combs adds that Leibovitz has “a reputation for doing racy things … Miley should have thought this out before she agreed to go in front of Annie.”

Lauren Conrad: Closet Republican?
Does Lauren Conrad secretly agree with Heidi Montag’s support of John McCain?
While the former BFFs usually avoid each other, both were among the celebrity guests at the White House Correspondents’ dinner Saturday in Washington, D.C.
During his speech, Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson asked the crowd to cheer for which political party they want to win in this year’s presidential race.
“I’m a new American so I’m trying to decide which party to vote for,” he said. “Should I vote for the Republicans?”
Conrad “clapped wildly,” according to New York’s Daily Intelligencer blog.
Ferguson continued, “Or [should I vote for] the Democrats?”
At which point, “Conrad immediately placed her hands on the table and wrinkled her nose to her friend,” the blog reported.
Earlier this month, Conrad’s rep said the Hills star “believes in a private ballot but encourages everyone to vote.”
The comment came after Montag endorsed McCain in the pages of Us Weekly.
“I’m honored to have Heidi’s support and I want to assure her that I never miss an episode of The Hills, especially since the new season started,” the Republican candidate said in response.
Conrad’s ex Brody Jenner, meanwhile, has backed Barack Obama.

Lauren Conrad’s Ex Returns To The Hills
No Laguna Beach boy caused a stir like Stephen Colletti. On tonight’s episode of The Hills, Lauren Conrad’s (and Kristin Cavallari’s!) beloved ex returns.In the exclusive clip above, Conrad tells pal and new roomie Lo Bosworth that she and Colletti, her ex from Laguna Beach days, are spending time together again.
“You’re hanging out?” Bosworth responds excitedly. “That melts my little black heart.”
Sure it makes Bosworth happy, but how does Conrad – who admits she “never stopped” liking Colletti – feel? “It’s not a ‘thing,’” she explains. “Because when it turns into a ‘thing,’ then there’s a buildup. And I get my hopes up.”
Ever the optimist, Bosworth counters: “Then I’ll get my hopes up for you!”

Britney Acting Up Again
Conservatorship wonder Britney Spears is returning to the stage — the “How I Met Your Mother” sound stage.
Brit is reprising her role of Abby on the CBS sitcom and sources tell us she’ll hopefully keep it together long enough to start shooting her scenes later this week. Spears’ previous stint on “HIMYM” garnered the show its highest ratings and earned her good reviews.
Unfortunately, must see TV doesn’t get much better than being hauled off on a gurney.

Heidi To Posh: My Crap Is Better Than Yours
Unlike Victoria Beckham’s dVb collection — which is now on the sale rack at Loehmann’s — Montag’s clothing line Heidiwood has completely sold out at Robertson Blvd. boutique Kitson. “The Hills” are alive with the sound of cash registers.
But if you want to get your hands on one of her hoochie shorts or cheapie dresses you’ll have to look elsewhere — sources tell us Kitson won’t be getting a new shipment of Heidi’s line until the summer or fall collection comes out. Make it stop!
Moral of this story: It’s a lot easier to sell crappy $44.95 jeans, than crappy $250 ones!

Scott Weiland Is Going To Jail
Rock star Scott Weiland has just been sentenced to 192 hours in county jail for his November DUI arrest. This is Weiland’s second DUI offense. He has until May 28 to serve the sentence.
Scott, who was not present in court today, entered a no contest plea through his attorney, Anthony Brooklier. The former Velvet Revolver singer was also ordered to complete an 18-month alcohol program and pay almost $2,000 in fines. He will be put on a four-year summary probation.
Weiland was charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol with a prior conviction, and with an allegation that he refused a chemical test as required by law. We are told he was over the legal limit of .08%, but not by much.
According to the police report, he failed the field sobriety tests and refused to take a blood or urine test. He was booked for DUI and released on $40,000 bail.

Ashley Dupré Sues Joe Francis
Ashley Alexandra Dupré, the New Jersey woman at the center of the New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer call-girl scandal, filed suit Monday against Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis and his film company – claiming he exploited her name and image for profit.
The lawsuit seeks more than $10 million in damages. In legal documents, Dupré alleges that Girls Gone Wild representatives approached her while she was vacationing in Florida in 2003, offered her alcohol and cajoled her into exposing her breasts for their cameras when she was just 17 (and not of proper legal age to sign a release form allowing her to be filmed).
Since then, the suit claims, Girls Gone Wild has illegally exploited Dupré’s name, picture, voice and likeness in a number of deceptive ad campaigns and on Web sites.
Francis said he was “surprised and in fact amazed” by the lawsuit, noting he has not released new video of Dupré “due to corporate policy of not using footage of individuals younger than 18″ and asserting she gave her consent on video, providing identification.
“She’s seeking $10 million for topless photos taken in front of a room full of people, including two newspapers and multiple crews we had in the room,” adds Francis. “These images were taken in public places and contain no sexual contact. We expect to triumph in this matter.”
Last month, Francis was released from a jail in Nevada, where he continues to face federal tax evasion charges. He is currently fighting separate charges in Florida for allegedly filming underage girls in Panama City. Francis claims that the girls in question lied about their age.
Dupré, who turns 23 this week, has not appeared publicly since the Gov. Spitzer scandal broke.

DWTS’ Cristian De La Fuente Injured On Dancefloor
Cristian de la Fuente’s samba came to halt Monday night — and the Chilean soap star was sent to the hospital — after suffering a severe muscle cramp in his arm on the Dancing with the Stars dancefloor.“It hurts,” de la Fuente told cohost Samantha Harris backstage, holding an ice pack to his left forearm. “It hurts the arm and it hurts that I couldn’t do it, you know, it’s tough.”
Still, he put on a strong showing. Seconds after hurting himself, the actor faced the judges, insisting “I’m fine,” and clutched his arm in obvious pain before going to commercial break. During the dance he had tried to shake off the injury, but he pulled back from lifting his pro partner Cheryl Burke off the floor.
“When we were dancing I fell back into his arms and I heard something crack,” Burke told PEOPLE between tears after the show. “I am so worried. He is not a wuss. He tried to finish the dance.”
The EMT on site diagnosed a “severe muscle cramp,” cohost Tom Bergeron told the audience.
Meanwhile, the judges, who gave the couple straight 7’s (21/30) for their performance, had encouraging words. “I really appreciate you went the whole round and you were there for Cheryl,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said, while Bruno Tonioli told him: “I hope you’re coming back because you are a great performer.”

Miley Cyrus — Top Missing Again?
Miley Cyrus just can’t decide whether she wants to be squeaky clean or a saucy seductress - and today’s she’s protesting a bit too much, again.
Snaps of the “Hannah Montana” star in Vanity Fair mag caused a big stir - especially one of her with her back exposed, suggesting toplessness. Well, she now tells People she’s “embarrassed” by the photos and claims that she was hoodwinked by the great Annie Leibovitz: “I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic.’”
Vanity Fair shoots back in the New York Times, saying that her parents and handlers were in the Studio the whole time.

Ashlee Simpson, Lauren Conrad Attend DC Event
It isn’t every night that celebs like Ashlee Simpson, Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Pam Anderson and the Jonas Brothers descend on Washington, D.C.
The stars – along with Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe, Marcia Cross and Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick – were guests of various news organizations for the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner Saturday night.
Simpson’s baby bump was barely visible in her black dress. The 23-year-old attended the event with fiance Pete Wentz.
The celebs were a welcome diversion from the otherwise tepid annual event, in which President Bush and Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson poked fun at themselves and the presidential candidates in front of an audience of the Washington press corps.
“Pamela Anderson and Mitt Romney in the same room?” Bush said. “Isn’t that one of the signs of the apocalypse?”
Bush also joked about his daughter Jenna’s May 10 wedding to fiancé Henry Hager.
“Senator [John] McCain’s not here,” the president told the audience. “He probably wanted to distance himself from me a little bit. You know, he’s not alone. Jenna’s moving out too.”
He added, “[Hillary] Clinton couldn’t get in because of sniper fire and Sen. [Barack] Obama’s at church.”
During Ferguson’s speech, he joked to the president, “By the way, you were fantastic on Deal or No Deal.”

Jonas Bros. ‘Didn’t Expect’ White House Dinner Reaction
It was tough to tell who needed more security at Saturday night’s annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. – the President or the Jonas brothers.
“It’s crazy,” Nick Jonas said of the Beatles-like frenzy that erupted when the pop trio – also made up of Jonases Joe and Kevin – arrived. “We never expected this.”
The evening’s emcee, Late, Late Show star (and, as of January, a newly minted American citizen) Craig Ferguson, told PEOPLE he was “thrilled but shocked” to receive the invitation to host because he “assumed his first invitation as a citizen would be to Jury Duty.”
At podium, Ferguson joked to President Bush: “Word has gotten out that this is a tough gig to host. So this is really just another case of immigrants taking jobs that Americans don’t want.”
For his part, the chief executive requested of the assembled dinner guests, “Please excuse me if I’m a little tired. The red phone rang at 3 a.m., but it turned out to be the damn wedding planner.”
Playmate Politics
Two former Playmates, Jenny McCarthy and Pamela Anderson, came to the event armed with their own political agendas. Anderson attended with PETA VP Dan Matthews and combined the trip with a day of lobbying for animal rights on Capitol Hill.
McCarthy told PEOPLE before the dinner that lobbying President Bush to support her June 4 Green Vaccine March on Washington was No. 1 on her to-do list. But it was more likely that she would get to bend the ear of her tablemate, former Secretary of State Colin Powell. “By the end of the night, he’ll probably be like, ‘Shut up already lady,’ ” she foresaw.
Other celebrities in attendance included Rob Lowe, Lauren Conrad, Joel McHale, Marcia Cross, American Idol’s Michael Johns, Colin Firth, Donatella Versace, Ed Westwick, Tim Daly, Rosario Dawson, Martha Stewart, Tracey Ullman and couples Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz, and Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.
And who did the Jonas Brothers look forward to meeting? “We hear we’re sitting with Martha Stewart,” said Kevin. “That will be really cool. Hopefully by the end of the night, she’ll say we have good table manners.”

Amy Winehouse Hits Rich List
Although she is fighting a possible arrest for an alleged headbutting, Amy Winehouse has one good bit of news - the respected Sunday Times Rich List has valued the “Rehab” singer as being worth $20 million.The annual list, due to be published this Sunday, charts the changing fortunes of Britain’s wealthiest people in the worlds of business and entertainment.
Although personal turmoil led to canceled tours for Winehouse this past year, album sales on the strength of her five Grammy wins have stayed strong for the 24-year-old.
Winehouse, the daughter of a taxi driver, is estimated to be the 10th richest young musician under 30 and is ahead of the other singers in the recent invasion of Brit Belles - Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield and the recently widowed Corinne Bailey Rae - all of whom are valued at $12 million.
All are a long way from the top name on the list, Dhani Harrison, the 29-year-old son of late Beatle George Harrison, who has an estimated $320 million in his pocket.
When it comes to the all-age music list, Spice Girl svengali and American Idol creator Simon Fuller, who launched and stopped legal proceedings against pal Simon Cowell, hears ka-ching to the tune of $900 million.
That’s just behind Sir Paul McCartney at $ 1 billion but trailing behind the $2.6 billion wealth of Clive Calder, the former record company boss of Britney Spears.

Jennifer Aniston On The Town With John Mayer
Jennifer Aniston had a late private lunch with musician John Mayer in a Miami restaurant that opened Friday afternoon just for them, and then the couple spent a lengthy dinner together Friday night.
When it came to lunch, “I was happy to accommodate them,” says Charles Bell, general manager of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink in the Miami Design District, which opened its doors for the pair early at 3:30 p.m. for the 90-minute meal.
Aniston, in Miami shooting the movie Marley & Me with Owen Wilson, ordered a chopped chicken salad, while Mayer had a Serrano ham sandwich which “Jen ate some of,” says Bell. For dessert, they shared a chocolate-and-peanut-butter layered treat.
Sitting across from each other in a booth, their heads were close together, and they were engaged in a private conversation, says Bell.
“I can’t speculate on what kind of meeting it was but they looked happy and seemed to have a great time,” he says.
The same also seemed to be true later in the day, when the two were seen at Casa Tua on South Beach.
With his arm around her, Mayer, 30, and Aniston, 39, left the restaurant a bit before 1 a.m. When they returned to her hotel, they were observed holding hands.
“We are very discreet here,” the manager of Casa Tua told PEOPLE after the two had departed. “That is why we have celebrity guests.”

Amy Winehouse Released From Jail
Amy Winehouse was released from police custody in London Saturday morning, after being cautioned for “common assault,” a police source confirmed to PEOPLE.
The soul diva, 24, spent the night in the city’s Holborn police station after voluntarily arriving for questioning at around 5 p.m. Friday.
When she arrived, a police spokesman told PEOPLE, a doctor determined she was “in no fit state” to be interviewed, so she was kept in a cell overnight. Once a doctor gave the go-ahead, she was questioned Saturday morning about a street brawl in which she allegedly attacked a man in the early hours of Wednesday.
“A 24-year-old woman today received a caution for common assault and has been released from custody,” a police spokesman said. As is the custom, British police do not name suspects unless they are charged.
It was an active 48 hours for Winehouse, who met with her lawyers Thursday evening to talk about the alleged assault. She then hit the Good Mixer pub and the Made in Brasil bar, where she was kicked out at about 12:30 a.m.
The singer did not attend husband Blake Fielder-Civil’s court hearing Friday morning. (He faces charges of trying to fix a case in which he is accused of assaulting a bartender.)
Winehouse emerged from her residence in the afternoon and was mobbed by photographers – to whom she made no comment – as she picked up her goddaughter from school. The singer then dropped in on a tanning salon, and finally – about two hours late – the police station.
